There's a prosamples version of Siedlaczek's Advanced Orchestra - Solo Strings too, you can get these for pretty cheap I think. Roland Solo Strings sounds pretty good too. The Emu orchestral CDROM (volume 3) is particularly cheap on Ebay, sometimes $10. They are going to be a lot more work for you than something like any of the above, but Kontakt Player can convert banks from Roland/Emu/Kurzweil CDRoms to Kontakt format, and if you have Sampler, Sampler can import Kontakt libraries. If you don't mind working with VSTs, there is the free version of EWQL Strings, there is a free pizzicato (iirc) string patch at cinematic strings, and the current sampletank group buy, which has a symphonic strings capsule. Is it live or is it Live Beyond just sampling the sounds, OEE also picks up the natural placement of the instruments in an orchestra.

There's no harp or piano, though these instruments are covered by Ableton's Essential Instrument Collection, which is available separately. you pretty much get all the standard string bow/plucked and standard woodwind samples, as well as some orchestral brass. Enter the ProjectSAM Orchestral Ensemble Essentials. This system is repeated throughout the orchestra, with solo winds and brass included alongside section 'bundles'. I think it sounds decent as strings, especially with some reverb, but there isn't much in the way of articulations. I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'good', but since you're referencing reason and not some $2k string sample library, it might be as good as that. Dunno what you need, but EIC2 has some in there in racks.
